Sicko...

So, I have been meaning to post, however, every time I plan on it something happens. All of us are getting over a nasty flu bug right now, though Zane and I were the only ones puking our guts out. And this morning I actually passed out...while changing Grace. Luckily I was only out for a few seconds, but it was enough to get Ty home from work! Whew, so glad this is behind us now. I want to update the photo album tomorrow so check back! Now I'm off to bed...

Busy, busy, busy

I won't be posting this week as I am trying to prepare for MCR's craft fair on Friday. I just found out that it has been widely advertised, so I am trying to get as much product as possible ready! Have a good week everyone!

Jobs...

Well, I have a job interview today at Medical Center of the Rockies for a nutrition assistant position. I am hopeful to get this one as I will only work four 5 hour shifts a week. I can handle that! I also have another interview coming up on the 27th for a Patient Services Representative in the ER at PVH. I would work 4 evenings again with this one, but a regular 8 hour shift instead of 5. Either one will work for us so I have just been praying that the one the Lord wants me to have is the one I receive. You can't go wrong with God's will!

I have also been working like crazy on slings and bows since I am participating in MCR's annual craft fair. Thanks Debi for reserving my place! Hopefully I will be able sell everything I bring with me :)

Moments that make all the stress worth it...

I am sitting on my bed with my laptop. Zane and Grace are with me and are being wonderful, cute, obedient children. This morning we had breakfast together at the table and I was telling them how much I love them. Zane chimes in with an "I love Mommy and Daddy" song and Grace starts copying him with the same inflection and sing song in her voice. And last night as Ty and Zane were playing and I was clearing the dinner table, Grace started singing "mama, mama, mama..." I definitely know that that was her own "I love Mommy song!"

Ahhhh, I revel in it now because by 4pm I will have forgotten I wrote this post and will be asking myself how soon I can get away with putting them to bed ;)

Jury Duty

I got a few requests for more elaboration on jury duty, so here goes!

The defendant was a convicted sex offender charged with failure to register as a sex offender. The prosecution was the State of Colorado represented by a young lawyer (might I add dark, and handsome as well?), who had a strong and convincing case. However, the defense had a few more facts that were a bit more persuasive.

The facts: All sex offenders are required to re-register with the state on their own birthday. The defendant had registered as usual on October 3rd 2007. A few weeks later he was evicted from his apartment. When a change of address occurs they are required to deregister and reregister within 3 days. There was no paperwork proving that the defendant had done so and was arrested and charged in February 2008.

The defense argued that he had gone in and filled out the necessary paperwork, however his caseworker was not in on the day he claimed he was there, October 17 2007. He said the receptionist set the form down on her desk and told him she would get it to the right person. The defense called the caseworker to the stand as a witness and had her read a copy of her pay schedule, and she was indeed not there on the day he said he went in. He also had his record going for him. 11 years of not failing to register once, including times he had a change of address. He also has a young child now.

The prosecution did not offer much except for the fact that there was no paperwork. We have all been the victims of paperwork slipping through the cracks at one point or another, so we gave him the benefit of a doubt. We found the defendant not guilty.

It was a very interesting process and now I have more respect for our legal system. I don't believe it is perfect in any sense and there is much wrong with it, I just have a bit more respect now :)

So there it is.

Welcome!

Well, we (or rather, I) have officially entered the world of blogging! I don’t think there will be very much profound wisdom here, as I have seen on certain other blogs; rather you will find pictures and random updates about what is going on with us.

For example, I served two days jury duty last week and found it absolutely fascinating. Ty is starting orientation for school and can hardly contain himself :) Zane is a budding artist, he started adding fingers and toes to his drawings of people. And last week he created a few of his own Pokemon! Gracie is, well… Gracie! She climbs anything and everything and falls. But she gets right back up and does it again! I’m telling you, she will be begging for skydiving lessons by the time she’s 10. Oh, and she has her own “silly face” now, just like Z-man used to! See, I need to post a video of that along with some comparison pics from when Zane was a baby and doing it.

So, let me know what you think, TTFN-Ta Ta For Now!
